A leading engineering consultancy is seeking skilled FPGA Design Engineers to support high-integrity UK infrastructure and security programmes. These are long-term contract opportunities contributing to complex, safety-critical systems.

We are looking for engineers with a solid understanding of FPGA design and verification processes, ideally with experience delivering solutions from concept through to implementation and test. You'll join a collaborative team working closely with end clients on national-level engineering challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and verify FPGA solutions using VHDL.

  • Translate system-level requirements into robust, scalable FPGA architectures.

  • Perform synthesis, place and route, and timing closure to meet design constraints.

  • Develop testbenches, scripts, and supporting software to streamline the design lifecycle.

  • Debug and resolve technical issues in demanding environments.

  • Capture and refine technical requirements to ensure alignment with project objectives.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • In-depth knowledge of FPGA design principles and hardware development.

  • Proficiency in VHDL and associated simulation and synthesis tools.

  • Experience developing and testing complex digital architectures.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and liaise directly with clients.

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN).

  • Scripting experience in TCL or Python for tool automation.

Additional Information:Due to the sensitive nature of the work, successful candidates must be eligible for UK Security Clearance. Pre-employment screening will be required.
