Tradewind Recruitment is working with a supportive and inclusive secondary school in Derby to recruit a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2025. This is a full-time role for the academic year, with the potential for a longer-term position.

About the Role:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support students with a range of special educational needs, helping them to access the curriculum, build confidence, and achieve their individual goals. You will work closely with teaching staff and the school's SENCO to provide targeted support both in and out of the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-to-one or small group support for students with SEN

  • Assist in delivering differentiated learning activities and interventions

  • Help manage behaviour and promote a positive learning environment

  • Support the emotional and social development of pupils

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals

Requirements:
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN (in schools or similar settings)

  • A calm, patient, and nurturing approach to support learning and behaviour

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to follow direction and use initiative when needed

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
