A college in Derby is seeking several British Sign Language Interpreter to support their students. This role offers both full-time and part-time hours with flexibility in scheduling, ideal for candidates who are adaptable and can work various shifts.

Job Title: British Sign Language Interpreter

Position: Part-time or Full-time

Role type: Temporary Ongoing

Location: Derby

Rate: £15p/h to £20p/h including holiday pay

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Provide communication support to students using British Sign Language (BSL).
  • Work closely with educational staff to facilitate effective communication between students and teachers.
  • Assist in the development of communication strategies to enhance students’ educational experiences.
  • Adapt communication methods to suit individual student needs and educational settings.
  • Participate in meetings and training sessions to stay updated with the latest educational practices and communication techniques.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum Level 2/3 certification in British Sign Language (BSL).
  • Recent experience in communicating via BSL in educational or similar settings.
  • DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with students and staff.
  • Confidence in handling flexible schedules and adapting to varying educational needs.
