ESP are delighted to be working with John Port Spencer Academy as we search for an experienced or aspiring Technology Support ManagerTO lead your own IT team, while preparing IT for the school’s objectives for the future.

You'll be working closely with the Head of IT Service Delivery and other key leaders within the Trust. You'll also be the go-to person for the academy's IT Support Technician and apprentice. One of the key benefits at working at John Port School is that the Trust mandates that all manager’s develop their skills through its dedicated CPD system, as well as working with some of the latest cloud technologies including: Smoothwall, Intune, O365, Aruba, Halo, Jamf, Senso and Sophos

An onsite role, candidates with previous education sector knowledge preferred. Ability to pass an enhanced DBS is essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the consistent and reliable operation of all academy IT infrastructure, including installation, upgrades, and timely resolution of technical faults.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for IT support requests from staff and students, providing effective and efficient solutions to a range of technical issues.
  • Contribute to the strategic development and implementation of technology within the academy, including the evaluation and piloting of new technologies to enhance operational efficiency and educational outcomes.
  • Participate in the planning and maintenance of the academy's network infrastructure, ensuring its future scalability and security. Implement and maintain robust data security protocols.
  • Develop and deliver training and resources (e.g., guides, videos) to enhance staff and student proficiency in the effective use of technology.
  • Directly manage and support the IT Support Technician, providing guidance, mentorship, and technical expertise to ensure the delivery of high-quality IT support services.

The Role:

  • Demonstrable experience and a strong understanding of IT systems and networking principles.
  • Practical experience with Microsoft Intune for device management.
  • Hands-on experience in the maintenance and support of a diverse range of ICT equipment.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a commitment to resolving technical issues effectively.
  • The ability to communicate technical information clearly and concisely to individuals with varying levels of technical understanding.
  • A proactive approach to maintaining system security and ensuring software and hardware are up-to-date.
