MIG & TIG Welder Fabricator (Field Based)

Job Description

Were recruiting experienced MIG & TIG Welder Fabricators (Field Based) to join our prestigious client in Derby!

This is an exciting field-based role working on rolling stock, involving both fabrication and repairs of metal components across the UK.

Youll be based on-site in Derby approximately 20% of the time and spend 80% of your time traveling to customer sites, including locations like Doncaster, London, and Newcastle. Some sites will be commutable, while others may require overnight stays flexibility to travel and stay away is essential (all expenses are covered).

This is a Full-Time, Permanent role with excellent progression opportunities!

What youll be doing

• Interpret engineering drawings and welding specifications
• Perform MIG and TIG welding on stainless steel and aluminium
• Execute positional welding (overhead, vertical, flat, horizontal)
• Fabricate and repair metal components for rolling stock
• Conduct inspections to ensure weld quality and compliance
• Collaborate with engineering/maintenance teams to enhance processes
• Maintain safe and clean work environments
• Travel to customer depots and worksites as required

Hours

Monday-Thursday 7am-3:30pm & 7am-12pm on Friday

Pay

£17.60 per hour

Overtime paid at £26.40 per hour

Skills/Experience Required

• Proven MIG/TIG welding and fabrication experience
• Strong positional welding skills (overhead, vertical, flat, and horizontal)
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• A valid UK driving licence
• Willingness and flexibility to travel and stay away from home
• High attention to detail and strong communication skills
• Familiarity with welding tools, safety standards, and equipment
