AREA OPERATIONS MANAGER

Base location – Devizes, Wiltshire SN10

Salary – £40,838 + £5,100 Car Cash Allowance per annum + benefits

Working Schedule: Monday to Friday – out of hours cover on rota

The area Operations Manager is the local accountable person for the quality and presentation of their area, to ensure all users and visitors have an outstanding and engaging visitor experience.

The role is as the local representative of the trust with internal stakeholders, users, visitors and community representatives. They will have local detailed knowledge to operate the waterway reliability and the ability to develop and implement a programme of works that address key customer and wellbeing trust delivering greater brand awareness, wider public support and delivering health and wellbeing outcomes. React to local circumstances for emergency maintenance with a key aim to maximize network availability.

Leading and motivating a team of colleagues and volunteers in operating the network and delivering the works programme; they will be accountable for quality delivery, to time and budget; with overall budgetary accountability in their area. They will supervise the work of contractors engaged in the FM functions delivered through the region.

They will be come the key contact for internal and external paeties undertaking activities in their area. From time to time may undertake local projects and enable a wide range of waterway activities.

  • LiaisonwithandcoordinationofTrustprioritieswithotherteamstoensureallworksandinitiatives withintheirareaareprogrammed anddelivered withcurrentandfuturevisitorsinmind.Influence colleaguesinrelationto thedelivery ofworksoutsidethe scopeof theirownteamto deliver.
  • Manage minor projects typically grant funded valued to£20k,achievementof outcomes and budget compliance, required reporting and otherstandards.
  • Develop and grow the volunteering contribution to the care of the waterwaywith a targeted, engaging and satisfying programme of opportunities.
  • Line management, coachingand mentoringofa teamofpaid colleaguesand volunteers tooperate the waterway anddeliveraplanned programmeof maintenance worksto highquality in timeandto budgets; and reactive tasks as circumstancesrequire.Planningofworkschedules and rotas. Organise and oversee the daily operation of an area of the network to provide a7-day operational service.
  • Key contact with contracting partners in the undertaking of activities associated with the delivery of plannedcontractedandarisingtasksin the OperationalContractsarea.Undertakespecialist activities (example Diving Contract Administration),asneeded forthe region and more widely where required.
  • identifyandimplementopportunitiesforefficiencies,achievingbudgetarytargetseachyear
  • Participation inthe planning and delivery of a 24/7 oncall response,to ensure visitor andneighbour safety and satisfaction ismaintained at alltimes.Ensure availability of colleagues to resource the Rota.
  • Responsible forequipment, vehicles and buildings to the required standards to ensure their availability forworks and cost effectiveness.
