Contract: Interim - 6 Months+
Rate: 40-45 per hour DOE
Spencer Clarke Group are currently working with a Local Authority in the South to appoint an experienced Interim Building Surveyor to support the delivery of their housing capital improvement programme. This is a hybrid role requiring a balance of on-site presence, office-based collaboration, and home working.
This opportunity is ideal for a surveyor with a strong background in contract administration, capital project delivery, and managing listed and corporate buildings through planned maintenance and improvement schemes.
Key Responsibilities
- Commission and manage capital and planned maintenance projects, ensuring delivery to scope, time, and budget.
- Prepare feasibility studies, develop detailed design specifications and drawings, and obtain necessary planning, building regulation and listed building consents.
- Administer contracts from project brief through to handover and close-out, ensuring compliance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.
- Carry out a range of building surveys (e.g. condition surveys, dilapidation reports, structural surveys).
- Conduct tenant and leaseholder engagement, ensuring customers are well-informed and considered throughout.
- Manage contractor performance and ensure H&S compliance throughout all stages of project delivery.
- Monitor and report on project budgets, ensuring all expenditure aligns with Council financial regulations.
Essential Knowledge & Experience
- Proven track record delivering capital and planned maintenance programmes.
- Strong contract administration and contractor management experience.
- Experience with public sector procurement and competitive tendering.
- Proficient in AutoCAD or equivalent drawing software.
- Sound knowledge of building regulations, listed building consent processes, and planning requirements.
- Understanding of CDM 2015 regulations and their practical application.
- Experience working on a wide range of corporate and heritage buildings.
Qualifications & Requirements
- HNC in Building Studies (or equivalent).
- Accredited qualification in AutoCAD or similar.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for site visits.
