We are currently seeking an S&T Signalling Maintenance Tester for a long term contract role based in Wilshere. The role would be wokring on a on permanent nights - Mon to Thur and OT at weekends. This job involves providing essential maintenance cover, ensuring the continued safe and efficient operation of the railway signalling systems.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake maintenance testing of signalling equipment after removal and replacement of components within previously working and commissioned signalling systems. Includes removal, refitting and testing to relevant standards from a mechanical and electrical perspective. The mechanical aspect will include Axle Counters, Points and Interlockings. The electrical aspect would include re-wiring Track Circuits, Signals, Cables and Power/ Earth supplies.
  • SMTHs are in charge of performing signalling duties, such as disconnections & reconnections, maintenance, fault finding, and minor renewals.
  • SMTH's when supporting will be operating on plant such as Rail Drills to create holes for caballing in which they will assist with the installation of re-wiring into power supplies.
  • SMTHs site preparation means they must have an accurate test plan and will be responsible for site preparation - they would section off areas of the site that they and others are working on including removal of unwanted structures and debris.
  • SMTHs will be responsible/ delegating other members of the maintenance team for transporting materials and tools to and from work sites such as drop shunts, Fluke meters and Tubular Stretcher Bar Kits.


Job Requirements:

  • Experience in signalling maintenance testing (SMTH)
  • Thorough understanding of railway signalling systems and maintenance procedures
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Commitment to maintaining high safety standards
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • IRSE license.
