Job Title: Laboratory Technician

Location: Didcot

Our client, a leading organisation in the field of Environmental Science, is seeking a skilled and motivated Technician to join their team. You will play a crucial role in performing analytical tasks and duties to the highest standards, specifications, and time constraints. You will be responsible for maintaining the quality of your work and undertaking non-routine tasks as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform analytical duties independently, adhering to productivity and quality specifications after comprehensive training.
  • Maintain good laboratory practises by following methods, standard operating procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Support the laboratory function by specialising in a specific analytical area.
  • Ensure compliance with the Laboratory Quality System, specifically UKAS (ISO17025) and MCERTS requirements.
  • Uphold Health and Safety standards by using the appropriate PPE and reporting any incidents promptly.
  • Manage documentation, including training and equipment records, ensuring accuracy and proper storage.
  • Report any equipment faults or data abnormalities to your Line Manager.
  • Project a professional image and embody our business culture.
  • Engage in training new staff members and assist in achieving departmental production and quality targets.
  • Participate in quality reviews and support investigations into non-conformance issues.

Requirements:

  • GCSE or equivalent in English, Science, and Maths, grade C or above.
  • Experience working in a high-pressure, production-driven environment.
  • Basic understanding of scientific principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Familiarity with safe working procedures and health and safety regulations.
  • Knowledge and understanding of UKAS and MCERTS standards.
