About the Role
My client, a well-established and growing civil engineering contractor, is seeking an experienced and motivated Site Agent to join their team on a major highways development project in Oxfordshire.
This is a key role within the organisation and will see the successful candidate take a proactive leadership position in delivering a complex civil infrastructure project to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
The Site Agent will:
路Manage and mentor Site Engineers and Section Engineers.
路Support the Project Manager in all aspects of the construction phase.
路Coordinate with the Project Manager to manage and allocate project resources efficiently.
路Assist with project planning and ensure progress aligns with programme and budget expectations.
路Prepare and review work package plans and management documentation.
路Liaise with the planning department to maintain accurate programme data.
路Monitor compliance with contractual obligations.
路Manage subcontractors and suppliers effectively.
路Collaborate with commercial teams to ensure timely documentation and record-keeping.
路Promote and uphold health and safety standards across the site.
路Lead and attend regular site meetings.
路Maintain daily site diaries and activity briefings.
路Support quality assurance and environmental compliance.
路Ensure delivery is in line with project specifications and standards.
路Contribute to project close-out reports and lessons learned.
路Adhere to and promote the company's Integrated Management System (IMS).
路Champion a strong safety culture within the project team.
Person Specification
Technical Competencies - Essential:
路Demonstrable experience in a similar Site Agent or Section Manager role.
路Strong leadership and communication skills.
路Sound technical knowledge and understanding of NEC contracts.
路HNC or higher qualification in Civil Engineering.
路Proven ability to manage project teams and subcontractors.
Desirable:
路Previous experience on highway infrastructure schemes.
路Experience managing standalone projects or leading sections of major works.
路CPCS Appointed Person (Lifting).
路Temporary Works Coordinator trained.
路Competency in AutoCAD.
Health & Safety - Essential:
路SMSTS certification.
路First Aid at Work qualification.
路Strong understanding of current Health & Safety and CDM regulations.
Behavioural Competencies - Essential:
路Excellent verbal and written communication skills, adaptable to a variety of stakeholders.
路Analytical thinker with a solutions-focused mindset.
