We're seeking a highly accomplished and driven Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Lead to build and lead our EHS function from the ground up. This is a unique opportunity to shape the EHS culture and strategy for a groundbreaking facility, including BSL-2 and BSL-3 laboratories, and make a significant impact on global health.

As EHS Lead, you will:

  • Own EHS Strategy & Compliance: Develop and implement a comprehensive EHS strategy aligned with the company's global standards and UK regulations, ensuring full regulatory compliance.
  • Build a Culture of Safety: Create a proactive and engaged safety culture across manufacturing and lab environments, driving ownership and accountability at all levels.
  • Lead & Develop the EHS Team: Provide direction and mentorship to direct reports, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Manage EHS Programs: Oversee all aspects of EHS, including environmental compliance, chemical and biological safety, sustainability, and occupational health.
  • Emergency Preparedness & Response: Develop and implement robust emergency response plans and procedures, ensuring the site's readiness for any eventuality.
  • Partner with Stakeholders: Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, operational teams, and global EHS colleagues.

Qualifications:

  • Essential: Bachelor's degree in EHS, Engineering, or a relevant scientific discipline; 10+ years of EHS experience in life sciences, with 5+ years in a leadership role. On-site presence required.
  • Highly Preferred: Experience driving EHS performance in a commercial manufacturing or laboratory setting; deep knowledge of UK EHS regulations; expertise in implementing EHS management systems; experience supporting BSL-2 and BSL-3 operations; strong leadership, communication, and influencing skills; commitment to operational excellence.
