Adult Social Care Lawyer

South Yorkshire Local AuthorityRate: £55-£60 per hour - Negotiable DOEContract: 3-6 months initially

FULLY REMOTE

We are currently working with a local authority based in South Yorkshire to help them find an experienced Adult Social Care Lawyer. The successful candidate will have experience across the whole spectrum of social care law, including mental health issues, deprivation of liberty and challenges under the Care Act.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal advice, representation, advocacy and support as required on all aspects of community care law relating to vulnerable adults, including, The care act 2014, the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and the Mental Health Act 1983.
  • Conduct litigation before all courts and tribunals and advocate before first/second tier courts and tribunals and equivalent forum.
  • Draft statements, reports, pleadings, instructions to counsel, court orders and settlement agreements as required and as a necessary part of the conduct of legal proceedings before all relevant courts and tribunals.
  • Providing legal advice and support to enable the local authority to fulfil its Statutory and strategic functions and assist in the preparation of reports to cabinet, committees, boards and other bodies of the Council.

Key Requirements:

  • Hold a valid practising certificate to practice in England as a Solicitor, Barrister or Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives.
  • Be able to hold a full caseload of Adult Social Care cases.
  • Be able to work as part of a team.
  • Be able to work to tight timelines and under pressure.
