Role Overview

The appointed Health, Safety, Environmental and Energy Coordinator will be responsible for assisting the HSE Team in the development, implementation, maintenance and enhancement of health safety, environmental and energy processes in line with relevant legislation and the companies requirements. The Coordinator will assist with reviews of the effectiveness and efficiency of health, safety, environment and energy systems; assessments of current measures and reporting shortfalls & practical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

-Operate a safe working environment in line with company policies and procedures

-Provide support and advice on all matters of health, safety, environmental and energy

-Interact and collaborate with departmental managers, supervisors and operatives to provide guidance and direction

-Develop professional working relationships with colleagues and team members which maintain open lines of communication

-Support the role and function of the HSE committee, preparing records and taking minutes

-Support the HSE Team:

* in the creation and maintenance of the companys policies & procedures

* in maintaining records of key activities e.g. risk assessments, accident/incidents, competency, waste, energy consumption etc.

* to demonstrate compliance to health, safety, environmental and energy standards (e.g. ISO14001, ISO45001 & ISO50001) and any other standards as they apply to the business

* in assessment of risk to health, safety, environment & energy, including implementation of practical solutions

* with surveillance and reporting on recommendations and opportunities for enhancement to existing systems

* with health, safety, environment & energy workplace inspections programmes

* with external organisations during Audits / Inspections

* with enquiries, taking appropriate action and escalation where necessary

* with the accident and incident process, by ensuring incidents are logged and followed up where necessary

* in responding to workplace complaints and investigation to the elimination of the root cause(s)

* in the provision of health, safety, environmental and energy training to Eland Cables personnel

The successful candidate must have the following skills and experience:

-Previous experience in a similar role

-Relevant qualification in health & safety, environmental or energy e.g. NEBOSH / NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent

-Conducting site inspections

-Strong organisational and decision-making skills

-Excellent verbal and written communication skills

-IT Literate (Including working knowledge of Excel & Word)

-Must be an innovative thinker and commercially aware

-Must be willing to develop interpersonal and communication skills
