GSL Education are currently recruiting a full-time Teaching Assistant for a supportive and inclusive school setting in Doncaster. This position is ideal for candidates with experience working in residential care who are eager to transition into education or expand their current experience in the classroom.

Responsibilities of the TA:

  • Support pupils on a 1:1 or small-group basis, encouraging engagement, focus, and confidence in their learning.
  • Assist in creating a calm, safe, and structured classroom environment.
  • Use your residential care experience to build positive relationships and respond effectively to challenging behaviours.
  • Collaborate with class teachers and SEN staff to deliver tailored support for each pupil’s needs.
  • Help implement individual learning plans and monitor progress.
  • Foster emotional well-being and social development alongside academic goals.

Requirements of the TA:

  • Previous experience working in a residential care setting is essential.
  • Experience working with children or young people in an educational or support setting is highly desirable.
  • A patient, compassionate, and adaptable approach.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and use initiative.
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive attitude toward teamwork.
  • A current CV covering the last ten years (with any gaps explained) and an enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
