We are seeking an Interim Operations Director to support the reopening of Doncaster Sheffield Airport. This crucial leadership role involves overseeing critical infrastructure and operational arrangements to ensure the airport meets aerodrome certification and Airspace Change control processes. The successful candidate will collaborate with regulatory bodies, airline partners, and internal teams to uphold the highest safety and operational standards.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Lead and manage the airport operations team, including security, maintenance, customer service, and administrative staff.
  • Develop and implement operational policies and procedures in compliance with UK aviation regulations.
  • Manage relationships with airlines, ground services, security, emergency response teams, and regulatory agencies.
  • Ensure overall safety and security protocols meet TSA standards and UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) regulations.
  • Manage airport facilities, ensuring proper maintenance, safety, and upgrades.
  • Lead emergency response efforts to minimize disruptions and ensure safety.
  • Drive continuous improvements in operational performance to enhance efficiency and passenger satisfaction.
  • Prepare and manage budgets, ensuring cost-effective practices.
  • Lead efforts to achieve and maintain aerodrome certification standards.
  • Drive strategic initiatives such as route network expansion, airline partnerships, and implementation of innovative technologies.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • In-depth understanding of UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) regulations, safety standards, and security procedures.
  • Experience with aerodrome certification requirements, audit processes, and compliance management.
  • Proven experience in airport operations management, preferably within UK airports.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Experience in strategic planning, operational management, and team leadership.
  • Knowledge of airport infrastructure, maintenance, and technological innovations in aviation.
  • Awareness of environmental sustainability practices relevant to airports.
