Elevation Recruitment Group are delighted to be working with a well established and reputable business in Doncaster as they look to bring in a Senior Payroll Officer to support the Payroll manager as a number 2 role in the department. The team consists of 6 payroll clerks and the payroll function manages and end to end payroll for 2000+ employees on both a weekly and monthly payroll. They are also in the process of implementing a new payroll system which this role will also have an active involvement in.

The company offers good benefits which include: -

  • Salary of up to £42,000
  • Up to 10% Bonus (Depending on met objectives)
  • 25 days holiday + stats (You have to save 2 or 3 days for Christmas shut down)

Hours of work: 9am – 5pm or 8am – 4pm (Monday to Friday)Duties will include but will not be limited to: - 

  • Provide a high quality and responsive end to end payroll service to the business in an accurate and timely manner 
  • Management, processing and review of all weekly and monthly Payroll transactional activities including month end reporting and reconciliation requirements
  • Provide specialist advice and guidance to the business and colleagues on all aspects of Payroll and PAYE
  • Responsible for ensuring all Payroll transactions are compliant and delivered in accordance with relevant legislation 
  • Identify payroll issues and implement corrective action where required in collaboration 
  • Support with the annual pay review and bonus process
  • Administration of Pension schemes including Auto Enrolment compliance requirements, regular reporting of membership and contribution data to the providers
  • Administration and reporting of employee benefits such as PMI, Life Assurance and SAYE
  • Manage the annual production of P11d’s for employee benefits in kind
  • Implement and monitor payroll process documentation to ensure they are up to date, fit for purpose and in accordance with business need
  • Continuously contribute and influence new initiatives and ways of working to improve process and systems to enhance payroll service delivery
  • Support the Payroll Manager with the delivery of payroll projects as required by the business
  • Coach and develop payroll advisors by sharing knowledge, expertise and skills across the team

Candidates will ideally have the following skills and experiences: - 

  • Ideally CIPP qualified or relevant experience
  • Subject matter expert in relation to current UK payroll and pension legislation with a passion for payroll controls and governance
  • Experience working in a high volume, fast paced environment with multiple pay cycles and frequency
  • Knowledge of payroll systems 
  • Good organisational awareness with a pro-active approach to leading change
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to build constructive and collaborative working relationships
  • Excellent level of IT skills and analytical ability - including Excel
  • Prepared to challenge the status quo in a constructive and respectful manner, actively suggesting and contributing to process and system improvements
  • Effective and logical approach to all payroll related issues with experience of managing until resolution
  • Team player with the ability to work under pressure with a focus on attention to detail
