A well-established and innovative engineering and technology organisation is seeking an Assistant Project Accountant to join its Project Accounting team. This is a great opportunity for someone with a passion for finance and a desire to grow within a project-focused environment.

About the RoleAs an Assistant Project Accountant, you’ll play a key supporting role in managing project accounts. You’ll assist with forecasting and reporting of orders, revenue and margin, maintain financial records in ERP systems, and raise sales invoices linked to key project milestones.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update project reporting systems to ensure accurate and timely data.
  • Create and maintain project and sales documentation in ERP (SAP).
  • Monitor project milestone deliveries and issue corresponding sales invoices.
  • Assist with cash collection processes.
  • Correct and allocate project cost bookings.
  • Update and maintain periodic reporting on orders, revenue and margins.
  • Ensure proper record retention and support annual audit controls.
  • Participate in project reviews as required.

Skills & Experience

This role is well suited to candidates with:

  • A strong interest in finance, and ideally some exposure to project-based environments.
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks and work collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong Microsoft Office and Excel skills.

Desirable (but not essential) experience includes:

  • Familiarity with SAP or Microsoft Project.
  • Background in finance or project planning.
  • Understanding of long-term contract accounting standards.
  • Awareness of commercial and project management practices.
