Straight-Line Civils are looking for an Electrician/EC&I to join a Maintenance Department for a client outside of Dorchester.

You will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems, instrumentation, and control systems across plant or site operations. You will ensure that all systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform planned preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical and instrumentation systems
  • Install, commission, and calibrate instruments including pressure, temperature, level, and flow sensors.
  • Diagnose faults in PLCs, SCADA systems, and other automation/control systems
  • Support electrical maintenance of motors, switchgear, and power distribution panels
  • Maintain and update control system documentation
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations
  • Participate in plant shutdowns, upgrades, and project installations
  • Respond to emergency maintenance calls and support 24/7 operations if needed

Qualifications:

  • NVQ L3/ City and Guilds/HND or HNC
  • 17th or 18th edition electrical certification
  • Knowledge of DCS, SCADA, PLC and field instrumentation
  • Familiarity with ATEX environments is a plus

Skills:

  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
  • Proficiency with test equipment
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities
  • Capable of working under pressure and within tight deadlines

Experience required:

  • 4+ years experience in similar role
  • Experience in heavy industry, power generation, oil and gas, water treatment, or similar fields preferred
  • Proven ability to read and interpret electrical and instrumentation drawings and schematics
  • May involve work in confined spaces, at heights, or in hazardous environments
