Accountancy Officer - Dorset

Location: Dorset, DT2 (Hybrid working – 2 days per week in office minimum expectation).

Salary: £13.53 per hour.

Full Time – Monday to Friday – 9am to 5pm - 37 hours.

Contract: Up to May 2026 – possibly beyond.

We are seeking an organised and analytical Accountancy Officer to join a large public-sector organisation in Dorset. This role supports financial planning, reporting, and budget management to ensure accurate and compliant use of public funds.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, maintain, and monitor financial records, budgets, and accounts.
  • Produce regular financial reports and forecasts to support management decisions.
  • Process invoices, expenses, and payments in line with internal controls.
  • Assist with year-end accounts, audits, and financial reviews.
  • Analyse data to identify variances and trends and recommend improvements.
  • Ensure accurate filing and data entry within finance systems.
  • Work closely with internal teams to provide financial guidance and resolve queries.

Skills & Experience:

  • Experience working in finance or accounting, ideally within a large organisation.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in financial software and Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritise workload.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
