Principal or Associate Energy Lead

Location: Dorset or Berkshire to suit candidateSalary Range: £55,000 to £70,000About the Role:My client, an award-winning engineering consultancy, is seeking a creative and driven Principal or Associate Energy Lead to join their Dorset or Berkshire office. This role involves promoting sustainable development for a range of projects across all sectors and leading the development of energy strategies. It combines leadership and hands-on responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership and lead projects with industry-leading clients.
  • Lead energy workshops with the client and design team.
  • Undertake a range of modelling and analysis, including performance simulation, operational energy use, energy generation, and overheating.
  • Support the drive towards realising net-zero whole-life carbon in projects.
  • Manage and prioritise the workload of a project team.
  • Report resourcing requirements to the project lead team.
  • Contribute to the development of junior team members.
  • Delegate, manage, and review work undertaken by others.
  • Engage in research and development initiatives to stay at the cutting edge of industry knowledge.

About You:

  • 5 to 10 years' experience within consultancy, looking for a new challenge.
  • Expertise and a degree in an applicable field with a passion for creating sustainable solutions.
  • Confidence in leading energy workshops with design teams.
  • Good communication skills and enthusiasm for working within a team environment.

Key Skills & Knowledge:

  • Energy strategies
  • Building Regulations Part L assessments using Elmhurst and IES
  • Mechanical and electrical building systems
  • NABERS UK modelling
  • Passivhaus
  • In-Use energy modelling and assessment
  • Dynamic modelling for thermal comfort assessments and overheating risk assessments
  • IES VE experience
  • Production of planning documents including sustainability statements, energy statements, whole-life carbon reports, and circular economy statements
  • Net-zero carbon strategies
