We are looking for a skilled, compassionate tutor who can provide gentle, flexible support to a young person in year 2, S, who is currently managing both PDA-related needs and the emotional impact of a recent family bereavement. The right tutor will understand how to prioritise emotional safety, connection, and low-demand approaches while helping S re-engage with learning at a pace that feels manageable for them.
Hours: 2 hours every Tuesday morning
Please note , due to S's current emotional readiness, initial sessions may need to be shorter.
The intention is to increase hours gradually as trust, confidence, and tolerance build.
Location: Dorset
Start: As soon as a suitable tutor is identified
What We're Looking For
-Experience supporting PDA profiles and an understanding of low-demand, collaborative approaches
-Experience supporting children or young people through grief
-Minimum 6 months' experience delivering UK curriculum learning
-A calm, patient, relationship-focused approach
-Ability to adapt sessions responsively based on S's emotional capacity
-Someone who values connection over curriculum pressure, especially in the early stages
About S-
-S is a bright young person who has recently experienced a significant bereavement.
-Parents are understandably cautious about his readiness and want a tutor who can pace sessions gently, follow his lead, and prioritise emotional wellbeing.
-Building trust will be essential, and the family is committed to increasing learning time as S confidence grows.
If you have the relevant experience and feel you can offer the sensitive, flexible support S needs, please get in touch with details of your background, approach, and availability.
