Accountancy Recruit Is partnering with an events / publishing family run business in the recruitment of a Bookkeeper (Part Time) based in Dorking. Part time would be approx. 22-23 hours per week or 29-30 hours, either 3 full days per week or spread over 4-5 days with flexible start and finish times. The purpose of the role is to maintain the company accounts function using Xero, alongside another Bookkeeper, including day to day transactions and month end close for submission to the external Accountants.Responsibilities include –

  • Processing day to day multicurrency transactions.
  • Maintain the Sales Ledger: Issue invoices and statements, deal with customer invoice queries.
  • Carry out the duties of a Credit Controller (low volume) ensuring that payments are made promptly.
  • Maintain the Purchase Ledger: Record all invoices, liaise with suppliers regarding any invoicing queries and ensure the prompt payment of all cleared invoices.
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations.
  • Bank reconciliations.
  • Closing month end accounts, reporting on debits and credits (Trail balance).
  • Calculation of quarterly VAT returns.
  • Arrange bank transfers.
  • Ensure that the staff expenses and mileage claims are recorded accurately and reimbursed.

Requirements & Skills

  • AAT or Qualified by Experience
  • Experience of Xero would be an advantage
  • Bookkeeping and good understanding of debits and credits
  • Working practice of multicurrency transactions would also be an advantage

Remuneration & Benefits

  • Salary £34-36,000 pro rata
