The Role:

We are looking for a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant to join the school on a permanent basis providing pastoral support. You will play a vital role supporting pupils outside of lessons, helping them to regulate their emotions, re-engage positively, and return to learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 pastoral support to pupils with Autism and SEMH needs
  • Build trusted, supportive relationships to promote emotional regulation and wellbeing
  • Work proactively with pupils who are disengaged, supporting reintegration back into class
  • Assist in delivering interventions and strategies that promote resilience and confidence
  • Collaborate with teaching staff, therapists, and families to ensure consistent support

Requirements:

  • Experience supporting young people with SEN, SEMH, or behavioural needs (school, youth work, or care settings considered)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, patience, and empathy
  • Ability to support de-escalation and emotional regulation strategies
  • A passion for helping young people overcome barriers to education
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply)
