SEMH Teaching Assistant

Academics are seeking a compassionate and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist provision in Dover. What you'll do as a SEMH Teaching Assistant:

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH needs

• Assist in delivering personalised, needs-led learning activities

• Help promote emotional wellbeing, resilience, and positive behaviour

• Use de-escalation strategies and supportive interventions

• Work closely with teachers, therapists, and external professionals

• Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and families

What we're looking for in a SEMH Teaching Assistant:

• Experience working with SEMH, SEND, or challenging behaviour

• Strong communication, empathy, and patience

• Confident behaviour management and calm under pressure

• A trauma-informed, nurturing, and proactive approach

• An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
