Key Responsibilities of the Role of a Teaching Assistant:
- Work alongside teachers to deliver lessons and support learning across a range of subjects
- Provide targeted one-to-one or small group support to pupils who need extra help
- Support children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and emotional or behavioural challenges
- Help pupils develop their social, emotional, and communication skills through structured activities and daily interactions
- Assist in managing classroom behaviour using positive reinforcement and consistent routines
- Adapt learning materials and activities to suit individual needs and learning styles
- Encourage pupils to engage in lessons, build confidence, and become independent learners
- Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to support plans
- Help with classroom organisation, preparation of resources, and supervision during breaktimes or school trips
Requirements
- A degree in Psychology (or related subject)
