Are you a detail-focused finance professional looking for a role where your payroll and bookkeeping skills can make a real impact? A well-established business in Downham Market is seeking a Payroll & Bookkeeping Assistant to join their finance team and support smooth, day-to-day financial operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle weekly and monthly payroll processing in-house for all staff.

  • Ensure full compliance with HMRC regulations and pension auto-enrolment.

  • Accurately manage employee timesheets, holiday pay, and absence records.

  • Provide bookkeeping cover when required:

    • Input and reconcile purchase and sales invoices.

    • Manage petty cash and conduct bank reconciliations.

  • Assist with VAT returns and general finance administration.

  • Respond to payroll and expense queries from staff and management.

  • Maintain accurate financial records using recognised accounting software.

  • Generate and report on weekly KPIs to support financial oversight.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Practical experience in payroll and bookkeeping within a commercial or practice environment.

  • Strong working knowledge of payroll legislation and HMRC submissions.

  • Confidence using accounting software platforms

  • Ideally AAT qualified or working towards this or a similar qualification.

  • High attention to detail, discretion, and clear communication skills.
