Electrical Design Engineer required for my client, a global leader in the design and manufacture of heavy industry special purpose equipment for a range of sectors.

Key Responsibilities of the Electrical Design Engineer:

  • Design and development of electrical aspects of equipment sold.
  • Optimisation of new and existing designs.
  • Liaising with suppliers, customers and sister companies.
  • Working as part of a team to ensure that equipment is manufactured profitably, on time and to specification.
  • Create all drawings and bills of materials for each product designed.
  • Work with manufacturing teams and Test team to problem solve where required.
  • Making sure the equipment is compliant with the machinery directive for UKCA and CE marking.
  • Aware of the new machinery directive and standards for the EU.
  • A good understanding of electrical noise suppression and routing methods.
  • PLC programming and HMI design to allow operator ease of use would be an advantage.

Experience & Skills of the Electrical Design Engineer:

  • Qualification in Electrical / Electronic Engineering.
  • Working knowledge of Power Electronic Converters and heavy current design principles.
  • Working knowledge of Power Electronic control systems.
  • Analogue and digital design principles.
  • Ideally knowledge of Medium Voltage engineering principles.
  • PLC programming experience would be desirable but not essential.
