About the Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Purchasing Department as a Buyer. This role is ideal for an ambitious and proactive individual looking to make an impact in a fast-paced, global supply chain environment.
You will take ownership of an established supplier base, predominantly supplying a range of components used in general assembly. The position offers a mix of supplier management, sourcing, negotiation, and strategic supply chain development to support business growth and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and negotiate new products to support New Product Introduction (NPI) and new machine options.
- Work proactively with the supply chain to drive efficiencies and cost reductions.
- Develop and manage supplier and commodity strategies.
- Maintain supplier records ensuring compliance with ISO procedures, statutory requirements, and business processes.
- Ensure adherence to supply chain compliance (including Preferential Origin, CBAM, and UK/EU Sanctions).
- Identify, manage, and mitigate supply chain risks.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
- Strong IT skills – proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and data analysis.
- Understanding of ERP systems and how they integrate with physical operations.
- Solid knowledge of manufacturing processes and production environments.
- Awareness of compliance requirements within a global supply chain.
- Ability to build and develop supplier relationships.
- Strong cost analysis, negotiation, and management skills.
- Excellent planning, communication, and leadership abilities.
- Strategic thinker with a proactive, decision-making mindset.
- Proven experience in NPI implementation and project/production planning.
Desirable Criteria
- Meticulous, conscientious, and commercially aware.
- Confident, motivated, and adaptable under pressure.
- Strong internal and external communicator with stakeholder focus.
- Experience across a wide range of supply chain concepts and mechanisms.
- Understanding of Non-Malleable Grey Iron Castings and ability to read engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of Microsoft AX (preferred but not essential).
- CIPS certification or other professional purchasing qualification.
- Demonstrates and promotes company values internally and externally.
