Senior Planner - Dublin Office Lead

Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting Ireland's largest independent planning, ecology, and environmental consultancy in their search for an exceptional Senior Town and Regional Planner to lead and grow their Dublin office.

The Role

This is a pivotal appointment for a proven planning leader who can drive growth, lead a high-performing team, and manage a broad portfolio of urban development and infrastructure projects. As the Dublin Office Lead, you will:

Lead & Develop the Team

  • Build, mentor, and inspire a talented multidisciplinary planning team in Dublin.
  • Provide strategic leadership for project delivery, office operations, and long-term growth.

Oversee High-Profile Projects

  • Manage the preparation and delivery of planning applications, development plans, masterplans, and policy reports.
  • Ensure compliance with national and regional planning legislation, delivering work on time and to the highest standards.

Engage & Represent

  • Foster strong relationships with public and private clients, local authorities, developers, and stakeholders.
  • Represent the business at public consultations, hearings, and professional forums.

Drive Business Development

  • Identify and secure new opportunities in the planning and development sector.
  • Lead tender submissions and win work that addresses key environmental and societal challenges.

Champion Innovation

  • Promote sustainable, forward-thinking approaches to planning.
  • Encourage new ideas and solutions that add real value for clients and communities.

About You

You will be an experienced planner with a strong track record in leadership, client engagement, and delivering complex planning projects in Ireland. You will bring:

  • A degree (and ideally a Master's) in Town Planning, Urban & Regional Planning, or related discipline.
  • Chartered Membership of the Irish Planning Institute (IPI) or equivalent.
  • Minimum 7 years' post-qualification experience, with leadership or senior management exposure.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Irish planning system, legislation, and policy.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Commercial awareness and proven business development experience.

Experience in regional development, transport planning, or environmental assessment would be advantageous.
