We are currently recruiting for a Quality Engineer based at our site in Dudley. Hours of work are 8am to 4pm Monday to Friday.

Role Overview

  • To fully support the SHEQ Manager in the management, review and continuous improvement of the Quality Management Systems employed on site.
  • The holder of this position will also support the SHEQ Manager in the monitoring and auditing of the H&S Management System 45001 and the Environmental Management System 14001. 

Key responsibilities will be to:

  • Manage key accounts, ensuring supply requirements are confirmed during production and via pre-dispatch audits.
  • Effectively manage all Internal & External customer concerns from initial containment, effective countermeasure and preventative measures through to final close out by establishing cross functional 8D teams.
  • Analyse quality data collected to identify continuous improvement.
  • Carry out internal audits as per the QMS Audit Schedule. Identify corrective actions where necessary.
  • Act as investigation leader or team member as and when required for corrective and preventive action including customer, supplier and production.
  • Maintenance and development of Standard Operating Procedures and Control Plans.
  • Manage and monitor supplier product quality at goods in, through to all Production stages and initiate corrective actions internal and with suppliers as and when necessary.
  • Carry out internal audits as per the H&S and Environmental Audit Schedule

Relevant experience required:

  • Must have substantial Quality experience in a manufacturing business preferably within the Steel Industry.
  • Must have experience of directly dealing with customers regarding quality concerns, audits & improvement activities.
  • Must have extensive practical experience of working with a recognised world class new sector related quality system – ISO 9001 minimum.
  • Should be able to apply formal quality improvement techniques such as 8D, lead cross functional teams in using the techniques to deliver measurable improvements. 
  • Will be required to conduct audits internally and externally at supplier’s location as and when required.
  • Undertake audits to ISO 9001: 2015 System, Process and Product.
  • Maintain quality/supplier concerns platform including timely closure.
  • Monitor and report on Supplier Performance.
  • Inform the SHEQ Manager of all quality, H&S and environmental related concerns and trends
