Claire at Amber Mace is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a leading care provider for an exciting new Residential Team Leader opportunity at a brand-new Children’s Learning Disabilities Service based in Dudley.
This is a fantastic chance to join a newly opened 8-bedded service that provides exceptional care and support to children and young people aged 3–18 with a range of learning disabilities, physical disabilities, complex health needs, and emotional or behavioural challenges.

The Role
As the Residential Team Leader, you will:
- Support the Manager and Deputy Manager in achieving the aims and objectives of the service.
- Lead and manage shifts, ensuring staff are supported and the needs of children are met at all times.
- Plan rotas and daily activities, ensuring appointments, routines, and delegated duties are well organised.
- Administer, order, and audit medication in line with care plans and policies.
- Undertake training to communicate effectively with non-verbal children, using Makaton, PECS, Smart Box, or other tools.
- Support children with physical, emotional, behavioural, and educational needs, including specific health and medication requirements (e.g. PEG feeding, rescue meds).
- Act as a positive role model, promoting inclusion, independence, and community participation.
- Ensure a safe, nurturing environment where children are supported to reach their full potential.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- Experience working with children or young people with learning disabilities or complex needs.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate a team within a care setting.
- Understanding of child development and behavioural support strategies.
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
- A patient, empathetic, and compassionate approach to care.
- A full UK driving licence (preferred but not essential).
