Hayley 24/7 Engineering Services Ltd are now recruiting!

Our purpose is to work with customers to maintain operations, increase efficiency, reduce total cost of ownership, and secure asset performance gains.

We provide customers with quality round-the clock coverage for planned, predictive and reactive maintenance and repairs.

Our main workshop is in Dudley, the capital of the industrial Black Country, West Midlands.

This 35,000 sq. ft. facility houses the latest machinery, testing equipment and central functions, with a satellite facility in King’s Lynn, Norfolk, specialising in electric motor rewinding and pump performance testing.

We are now recruiting for a Gearbox Fitter to assume responsibility for dismantling, inspecting, repairing, and assembling a wide range of industrial gearboxes.

You will produce accurate technical reports, ensure repairs meet high standards, and contribute to the smooth running of the workshop.

As our Gearbox Fitter, you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting daily workshop operations including quality, health & safety and environmental activities.
  • Dismantling all types of industrial gearboxes and produce accurate inspection reports.
  • Assembling gearboxes to a high standard, ensuring full readiness for installation.
  • Interpreting engineering drawings, technical data and related documentation.
  • Working independently, taking ownership of the accuracy and quality of your work.
  • Identifying improvement opportunities and assist in problem-solving activities.
  • Ensuring standard work practices and procedures are consistently followed.
  • Responding to emergency breakdown situations when required.
  • Undertaking additional related duties to support the smooth running of the department.

In order to be successful in this role you must have / be:

  • Apprenticeship in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Working knowledge of various gearbox types.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work using your own initiative.
  • Competent in selecting and using measuring/testing equipment to ensure accuracy.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering data and drawings.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.
  • Health & safety, environmental or quality training is desirable but not essential.
  • GCSE or equivalent education.
  • Previous experience in gearbox repair or a similar mechanical engineering environment is an advantage.
