Locum SEN Legal Officer – 3 months + – Predominantly Remote Working – Full Time – Up to £35 per hour – East of England

Position: Locum SEN Legal Officer

Organisation: East of England based Local Authority

Duration: 3 months +with the possibility of extension thereafter

Working Pattern: Full Time

Working Arrangement: Predominantly Remote Working

Hourly Rate: Up to £35 per hour Umbrella

The ideal candidate will have at experience in handling Education andSEN matters and can demonstrate prior experience working on behalf of Local Authorities.

Duties may include:

  • Providing legal advice to the local authority and schools on Education Law matters such as school admissions and appeals, exclusions and reviews, home-to-school transport, and complaints
  • Handling cases on topics such as ordinary residence, safeguarding, provider failure, section 117 aftercare, and deprivation of liberty applications
  • Reviewing case papers and establishing the merits of cases and reviewing and complying with SENDIST Orders
  • Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to progress appeals and with the legal department where they have been instructed
