We are currently working on the below opportunity for a Junior Rural Surveyor working with an East Midlands Based Local Authority to support a customer-focused rural property service, promoting sustainable land use and assisting with compliance and service improvements"

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the management of rural land and property owned by the council, including smallholdings, parks, and agricultural land.
  • Assist in the preparation of valuations for lettings, acquisitions, disposals, and internal reporting.
  • Help draft and administer agricultural tenancy agreements, licences, and leases.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of accurate property records, maps, and databases.
  • Assist in rent reviews, inspections, and monitoring tenant compliance with lease obligations.
  • Provide support on land use matters, including planning applications, environmental schemes, and development proposals.
  • Liaise with tenants, landowners, contractors, and internal departments to support the effective management of the rural estate.
  • Attend site visits, surveys, and meetings with senior surveyors and property officers.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • A degree (or working towards one) in Rural Land Management, Property, Agriculture, or a related subject.
  • Intention to work towards RICS qualification, preferably via the Rural or Land & Resources pathway.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and willingness to learn property management systems.
  • Full UK driving licence (or working towards one) – desirable due to rural site access.
