Locum Commercial Contracts & Construction Lawyer – Midlands – Up to £65 per hour umbrella - Remote – Initial 3+ months

Venn Group’s specialist legal team is currently working with a well-regarded Midlands-based Local Authority to recruit a Locum Commercial Contracts & Construction Lawyer. This is an excellent opportunity for a well-established Construction Lawyer to join a dynamic and vibrant legal team.

The Role:

Position: Locum Commercial Contracts & Construction Lawyer

Rate: Up to £65 per hour umbrella

Duration: Initial 3+ months with the possibility for extension

Location: Remote after IT collection on first day

Hours: 35 hours per week

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drafting and negotiating the full suite of construction contracts, such as JCT and NEC.
  • Preparing and advising on amendments and precedent documentation.
  • Advising on construction-related regulations, i.e., CDM Regulations 2015.
  • Providing legal support throughout the project lifecycle, including risk management, contract management, and dispute resolution.
  • Advise on procurement strategies and risk management.
  • Support, draft, and negotiate complex agreements, including those related to PFI, funding arrangements, and joint ventures.
  • Assist with legal and operational priorities across major programmes and projects.

About You:

  • A highly skilled Construction Lawyer with a strong background in Local Government governance.
  • Ability to review and advise on clearance reports within the Council’s governance and decision-making procedures.
  • A keen understanding of recent governance challenges and the ability to support ongoing improvement.
  • Ability to hit the ground running and work effectively in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.
  • Passionate about delivering excellent legal support and committed to achieving positive outcomes.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with a collaborative approach to working across teams and departments.
