Locum Commercial Contracts & Construction Lawyer – Midlands – Up to £65 per hour umbrella - Remote – Initial 3+ months
Venn Group’s specialist legal team is currently working with a well-regarded Midlands-based Local Authority to recruit a Locum Commercial Contracts & Construction Lawyer. This is an excellent opportunity for a well-established Construction Lawyer to join a dynamic and vibrant legal team.
The Role:
Position: Locum Commercial Contracts & Construction Lawyer
Rate: Up to £65 per hour umbrella
Duration: Initial 3+ months with the possibility for extension
Location: Remote after IT collection on first day
Hours: 35 hours per week
Key Responsibilities:
- Drafting and negotiating the full suite of construction contracts, such as JCT and NEC.
- Preparing and advising on amendments and precedent documentation.
- Advising on construction-related regulations, i.e., CDM Regulations 2015.
- Providing legal support throughout the project lifecycle, including risk management, contract management, and dispute resolution.
- Advise on procurement strategies and risk management.
- Support, draft, and negotiate complex agreements, including those related to PFI, funding arrangements, and joint ventures.
- Assist with legal and operational priorities across major programmes and projects.
About You:
- A highly skilled Construction Lawyer with a strong background in Local Government governance.
- Ability to review and advise on clearance reports within the Council’s governance and decision-making procedures.
- A keen understanding of recent governance challenges and the ability to support ongoing improvement.
- Ability to hit the ground running and work effectively in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.
- Passionate about delivering excellent legal support and committed to achieving positive outcomes.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with a collaborative approach to working across teams and departments.
