We are currently working with an East Midlands based Council who are recruiting for a Waste Management SupervisorTo supervise operations at Recycling and Waste Transfer Stations, lead site teams, coordinate management instructions, and confidently operate site machinery to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.

Waste Management Supervisor

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: 3Months Initially

Rate: £20-25 p/h (Inside IR35 umbrella) *can be negotiable*

Onsite Working with some opportunity for homebased work

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise Recycling and Waste Transfer Station (RHWS/WTS) operations across designated sites, ensuring efficient, safe, and compliant service delivery.
  • Lead and manage site operatives, overseeing performance, training, and development.
  • Operate and maintain plant and machinery (e.g., loading shovels, telehandlers, forklifts); report defects promptly.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, environmental regulations, permits, and quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate records and use IT systems for data entry, reporting, and communication.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits for safety, quality, and environmental compliance.
  • Support recruitment, induction, and performance reviews; deliver staff briefings and toolbox talks.
  • Provide CoTC cover and act as keyholder for site opening/closing.
  • Liaise with internal teams, contractors, suppliers, and the public to ensure high service standards.
  • Identify service improvements and commercial opportunities; support recycling and waste treatment initiatives.
  • Order equipment and manage site resources effectively.
  • Drive HGVs and transport waste materials when required.

Desirable requirements:

  • WAMITAB CoTC Level 4 (or willingness to obtain).
  • Licences/tickets for Loading Shovel, Telehandler, Forklift, HGV, and Driver CPC.
  • First Aid at Work qualification (or willingness to obtain).
