Mental Health & Learning Disabilities:
The Strategic Lead for Mental Health in Adult Social Care will drive transformation of mental health services, develop strategic policies, and ensure community service delivery in Somerset. The Learning Disabilities Lead will reshape services using a Neighbourhood model, support smooth transitions for young people, and lead Transforming Care initiatives. Both roles involve collaboration with public bodies and system partners to align with local and national priorities in adult social care.
Key Results Areas:
- Operational Delivery: Review performance outcomes, resolve complex issues, and provide expertise to Members and Directors.
- Service Planning and Delivery: Develop and deliver service plans, manage change, and lead cultural change to promote well-being.
- Strategic Development: Collaborate with key agencies to monitor practice quality, drive service improvement, and ensure high standards.
- Financial/Budget Management: Manage budgets and contribute to financial strategy.
- Performance Frameworks: Implement performance management systems and ensure accountability.
- Operational Management: Provide social care expertise, ensure workforce support and development, and maintain effective workload management.
- Organisational or Service-Specific Delivery: Operate information systems and maintain networks with partner agencies to support service continuity and quality.

Qualifications and Experience:
- Professional Qualification: A recognised professional qualification in social work, such as an MA, BA, BSc in Social Work, Diploma in Social Work, or CQSW (Certificate of Qualification in Social Work).
- Registration: Must be registered with Social Work England.
- Experience: Significant experience in delivering social work services to vulnerable adults, including those with disabilities and complex needs.
- Knowledge of Legislation: Thorough understanding of relevant legislation, such as the Care Act 2014 and the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
- Skills: Strong assessment and analysis skills, as well as the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Driving Licence: A full UK driving licence and access to a car are often required for client visits.
