Estimator - Precision Engineering

Bridgwater

Salary - Negotiable depending on experience

Engineering & Manufacturing

We're working in partnership with a market-leading precision engineering firm to recruit an experienced Estimator to join their expanding team. This is an immediate need, and the client is ready to move quickly for the right person.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone from a CNC or high-precision background who enjoys working closely with technical teams, interpreting drawings, and building accurate, detailed quotations for bespoke components and assemblies.

About the Role

As the Estimator, you'll be responsible for preparing quotes based on customer drawings, using internal systems to calculate full production costs-including materials, tooling, subcontract processes, and treatment.

You'll work closely with the Technical Manager and wider engineering team to ensure pricing accuracy and commercial viability, and you'll be expected to bring a hands-on, detail-focused approach to each project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed, costed quotations from customer drawings and specs
  • Utilise MRP systems, cost centres, and production data
  • Ensure estimates reflect correct machining processes (milling, turning, 5-axis, etc.)
  • Liaise with technical managers for drawing interpretation and sign-off
  • Identify subcontract requirements and material treatments where applicable
  • Maintain quality standards in line with ISO 9001

Ideal Candidate

  • Background in precision engineering or subcontract manufacturing
  • Strong understanding of CNC machining processes and workshop flow
  • Able to read and interpret complex engineering drawings
  • Commercially astute with excellent attention to detail
  • Familiar with quoting systems, MRP, and cost control
  • Confident working across multiple projects with varying complexity

If you're an experienced estimator from the engineering sector-or a senior CNC professional with costing knowledge-we want to hear from you
