Civil Engineering Technician - Dundee


About the Opportunity
We're working with a leading UK consultancy seeking an experienced Civil Engineering Technician to join their established team in Dundee. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking engineering practice delivering innovative infrastructure, highways, and drainage projects across the UK.

The Role
As a Civil Engineering Technician, you'll support engineers in producing high-quality technical drawings, 3D models, and documentation for a variety of civil and infrastructure projects. You'll play an active role in design coordination, digital modelling, and ensuring technical accuracy across all project stages.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed engineering drawings and 3D models using AutoCAD and Civil 3D (or similar design software).
  • Assist with the design of highways, drainage, and earthworks to UK standards.
  • Support engineers with design reports, calculations, and technical documentation.
  • Undertake site surveys, inspections, and data collection.
  • Help prepare planning, tender, and construction documentation.
  • Liaise with local authorities, contractors, and utility providers.
  • Ensure compliance with design standards, health and safety regulations, and internal procedures.
  • Maintain accurate project records and drawings using document management systems.


Skills & Experience

  • HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in civil or infrastructure design within the UK.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD (2D/3D) with working knowledge of Civil 3D or MicroDrainage.
  • Good understanding of UK design standards (DMRB, Sewers for Adoption, Building Regulations).
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to work both independently and within a team.


Desirable:

  • Experience in a consultancy or local authority environment.
  • Familiarity with BIM processes and digital tools such as Revit or Navisworks.
  • Experience with SuDS design and environmental considerations.
  • Working towards EngTech or Incorporated status (ICE or CIHT).
