Mechanical Design Engineer

My client are looking for a skilled mechanical designer with expertise in plastic molding, and manufacturing processes. Proficient in CAD (ProE/Creo), tolerance analysis, and design for assemblies with PCBs. Experienced in leading projects from concept to production, collaborating across disciplines, and working with suppliers. Strong communicator with a focus on quality, documentation, and multitasking

Your responsibilities in the role

  • Strong understanding of Mechanical design principles and technologies.
  • Clearly understand documentation and the ability to work solely on problems as well as within a team environment
  • Must be willing to work to and set high work standards and be a good communicator
  • Strong understanding of plastic moulding and sheet metal fabrication design as well as a good understanding of tooling and parts manufacture.
  • Lead Mechanical activities with a good understanding of different manufacturing and assembly options, also review/recommend new manufacturing/assembly technologies
  • Lead/support; design reviews, assembly process, testing, etc
  • Work with Engineers from different disciplines for the benefit of the project as a whole
  • Able to work on multiple projects/tasks at the same time
  • Experience of working on projects from basic concepts right through to production
  • CAD (ProE/Creo preferred)
  • Work with Suppliers throughout project lifecycle
  • Drawing, dimensioning & tolerancing experience
  • Stress and Tolerance analysis experience
  • Experience with assemblies containing PCBs/harnesses including design for EMC & Safety
  • Experience with Rapid prototyping technologies
  • BOM cost tracking
  • Status reporting and tracking to schedule
  • Documentation - Functional and Unit Test Specifications
