Senior Engineer/Naval Architect – up to £60k DOE + Pension + Benefits – Dunfermline

The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Engineer/Naval Architect to join our growing team at Survivability Consulting Limited.

This role is ideal for someone with several years of experience in naval ship design or marine engineering, but we also welcome other engineers or scientists interested in the naval defence sector. You'll be working with a highly experienced team to enhance your knowledge and quickly take on key responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engaging with customers to understand requirements, develop approaches, inform progress and present outputs.
  • Working independently or as part of a small team to simulate and analyse naval scenarios to improve the survivability of naval platforms.
  • Developing approaches for assessing simulation data, extracting key observations in order to draw conclusions which address the customer’s requirements.
  • Writing technical reports and presentations to explain these conclusions, helping to guide future designs and policy.
  • Developing fast running engineering models from trials, complex numerical simulations or battle damage data.

Survivability Consulting Limited is a technical consultancy based in Dunfermline. We deliver assessment, advice and software in the fields of naval survivability and lethality to government and industry customers. We work on an exciting range of programmes of vital importance to the defence of the UK and its allies. Our senior team has well over a century of combined experience delivering to the UK MOD and defence industry.

The Person

Examples of the skills and qualities that you will hold some of are:

  • Degree in a STEM subject including Naval Architecture; and ideally experience in a naval or maritime discipline
  • Strong communication skills, able to analyse complex problems and present conclusions confidently and clearly, orally and in writing
  • Experience in numerical simulation would be highly advantageous
  • Self-motivation should be evident as you will need to quickly perform at a high level
  • Excellent engineering computer skills are essential
  • Great collaboration skills to be able to work well in a team

Please note that only UK nationals (no dual nationals) are eligible for the role and the successful candidate will need to undergo a security clearance process. Working from Home will not generally be possible.
