We are seeking an inspiring and committed Music Teacher to join our thriving secondary school in Great Dunmow, where the Music Department is undergoing an exciting period of growth and innovation. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic educator to contribute to a flourishing department that values creativity, collaboration, and high standards of musical education.

As a Music Teacher in Great Dunmow, you will support the Director of Music and the existing team-including another Teacher of Music, a part-time technician, and four peripatetic staff-in delivering an engaging and diverse curriculum across KS3 and KS4, with plans for future KS5 expansion. Our school has seen a 100% increase in GCSE music uptake, and with local charity support, our facilities include Apple Macs for composition and an extensive range of musical instruments.

The role includes encouraging students to take part in extracurricular music clubs, peripatetic lessons, and local community music initiatives, contributing to their holistic development. With an emphasis on whole-school musical development, you will also work in tandem with our KS2 provision to ensure a smooth and enriching through-school musical journey.

Our ideal Music Teacher will:
  • Have a successful track record as a classroom practitioner or community musician

  • Be a passionate, practising musician with experience in ensemble and choral settings

  • Have experience teaching both KS2 and KS3 students

  • Possess strong pastoral and safeguarding awareness

  • Inspire and motivate students to develop a love for music and opt for GCSE Music

  • Differentiate effectively for SEND learners

  • Work collaboratively across departments and contribute to our wider school community
