Maintenance Lead Engineer – Dunstable
Elevation Recruitment Group are supporting a search for a Maintenance Lead Engineer to join a well-established manufacturing business in Dunstable. This role offers the chance to step up into a leadership position, managing a team of engineers in a modern, automated environment.

The RoleAs Maintenance Lead Engineer, you will take ownership of shift activity, ensuring maintenance tasks are carried out effectively while supporting continuous improvement across the site. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and developing a team of resident engineers, ensuring safe and efficient performance
- Planning daily tasks, allocating resources and managing shift priorities
- Overseeing planned and reactive maintenance, ensuring compliance with company standards
- Carrying out root cause analysis for breakdowns and component failures
- Supporting improvement projects and engineering best practice
- Reporting on performance, maintaining records and promoting a strong safety culture
The PersonThe successful Maintenance Lead Engineer will bring:
- A Level 3 qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (apprenticeship trained preferred)
- Experience as a maintenance engineer in a highly automated setting such as FMCG
- Proven ability to lead, mentor and motivate engineers
- Strong problem-solving skills using structured methods such as 5 Whys or Fishbone
- Good knowledge of electrical fault-finding and basic PLC I/O checks
- Experience of using a Computerised Maintenance Management System
- A proactive, detail-focused approach with a willingness to adapt and support business needs
