Location: Nationwide - starting in Durham, travelling to Exeter and sites in between - There will be 4 trips a year to Diageo drinks in Scotland (north of Edinburgh) at 5 days per visit

About the Role

We are undertaking a major national project to upgrade approximately 4,000 modems from 2G to 4G across multiple UK sites, ahead of the planned 2G network switch-off in 2030.

We're seeking a reliable and self-motivated General Duties Assistant to support this rollout. This is a hands-on, travel-based role, carrying out straightforward modem switchovers, and assisting with general site duties to ensure smooth and safe operations.

You'll work both independently and alongside others, helping to deliver this large-scale upgrade safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Travel between sites in a company-provided van, following a set work schedule.
  • Carry out simple modem switchovers or activations (such as powering units or flicking switches as instructed).
  • Accurately log each visit and confirm completion of tasks.
  • Perform general labouring and grounds maintenance duties, including tidying, clearing, and basic landscaping to maintain safe work areas.
  • Report issues, faults, or delays promptly to the Project Coordinator.
  • Follow all site health and safety procedures at all times.
  • Work both independently and collaboratively as required.
  • Represent the company professionally, maintaining a tidy appearance and positive attitude.

Requirements

  • Full UK driving licence (essential).
  • Willingness to travel and stay away from home Monday to Friday (overnight stays).
  • Entry-level electrical knowledge or experience as an Electrical Mate (advantageous).
  • Physically fit and agile - able to climb ladders, work at height, and perform manual tasks safely.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to manage workload effectively.
  • Comfortable with manual, outdoor work and frequent travel.
  • Good attention to detail and able to follow clear written and verbal instructions.
  • Must pass a medical assessment (working at height / confined spaces).
  • DBS check required.
  • Target: 150 modem upgrades per month.
