We are seeking to appoint a Homefinder Officer to support the care and placement of children and young people under the care of the Local Authority within the Durham Area.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the identification, coordination, and matching of appropriate care and/or support arrangements. These arrangements may include:

  • Children's residential homes
  • Foster placements
  • Supported accommodation
  • Supported lodgings

This is a critical role that contributes directly to the welfare and stability of vulnerable children and young people across the county.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with internal and external partners to identify suitable placements for children and young people in care.
  • Match children and young people to appropriate care settings that meet their assessed needs.
  • Maintain up-to-date records and use placement systems and databases to support the matching and referral process.
  • Communicate effectively with social workers, carers, providers, and other key professionals.
  • Ensure all placements are made in line with statutory requirements, safeguarding procedures, and best practice.
  • Respond quickly and professionally to urgent placement needs.

Contract length: 3-6 months, with the expectation of extension.
Rate of Pay: 15.50 - 19.00 p/h DOE
Hours: Full time, 37 hours per week.
