We are seeking a passionate and driven Vocational Tutor to join a dynamic and supportive team within an alternative education setting for 14–19-year-olds. This is a unique opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of young people with complex needs and behaviours by delivering high-quality education, fostering engagement, and promoting progression.Â
You will provide effective teaching, learning, and assessment in Customer Service and Employability (Entry Level to Level 2). You’ll play a pivotal role in behaviour management, curriculum development, and student support—driving performance in engagement, teaching quality, safety, and learner progression.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
- Deliver high-quality lessons in Customer Service and Employability.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment.
- Develop schemes of work and lesson plans aligned with curriculum and accreditation requirements.
- Adapt teaching to meet a wide range of individual learner needs.
- Monitor, assess, and report on learner progress.
- Engage with parents/carers to support student development.
- Maintain high standards of classroom behaviour and discipline.
- Ensure effective use of support staff and resources.
Curriculum & Performance
- Support the lead teacher in achieving a "Good" or "Outstanding" OFSTED rating.
- Contribute to curriculum planning and innovation.
- Use tracking systems to measure student progress and achievement.
- Share best practice and continuously strive for teaching excellence.
Team & Administration
- Work collaboratively within a small, dedicated team.
- Complete required administrative tasks, including registers, data entry, and exam entries.
- Support the pastoral and safeguarding needs of learners.
- Participate in professional development and team training.
Requirements
- Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, CertEd, DTLLS).
- Experience teaching vocational subjects (preferably Customer Service/Employability).
- Understanding of the needs of vulnerable or complex learners.
- Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of learners.
