As the Computing Teacher, you will ensure each student reaches their full potential in computing by implementing effective strategies to enhance achievement.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement a comprehensive computing curriculum.
  • Create a safe, nurturing classroom environment that supports learners with SEND needs.
  • Deliver engaging lessons, including accredited courses up to GCSE and BTEC.
  • Develop and revise schemes of work and syllabuses.
  • Monitor student progress and set achievement targets.
  • Provide quality feedback to students.
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour for learning.
  • Communicate regularly with parents about student progress.
  • Promote enrichment and extracurricular activities.
  • Foster a strong school community reflective of key values.
  • Manage the computing budget.
  • Ensure excellent attendance and behaviour.
  • Undertake professional development and appraisal.
  • Implement and monitor Health and Safety policies.
  • Maintain inspiring classroom displays.
  • Undertake other responsibilities as directed by the Management Group.

Qualifications:

  • Essential Qualifications
    • Qualified teaching status.
    • Qualification in managing online safety in schools (or ability to complete it before taking up the position).
  • Desirable Qualifications
    • SEND qualification (e.g., trauma-informed practitioner, autism awareness).
    • Degree in Computer Science or related subject.

Experience:

  • Teaching computing to students aged 7-19.
  • Working with children with special educational needs.
  • Significant experience with SEND learners (preferred).
  • Organising and running extracurricular activities (preferred).
  • Implementing and improving systems of safety in technology in schools (preferred).

Skills:

  • Highly skilled classroom practitioner.

  • Understanding of SEND categories.
