Teaching Assistant
East Grinstead
Permanent position starting - September 2025
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:45am-5:00pm (4.30 finish on a Friday)

Are you passionate about working with children and making a meaningful difference every day? We are currently working with a unique setting who are looking to recruit a teaching assistant to work their pupils on a one-to-one basis.

If you have ever wanted to work with young people or are already working within education, but are looking to specialise in a SEND environment, this is a fabulous team to join a team where training and support are plentiful.

What you'll be doing:

  • Delivering daily 1:1 teaching sessions under the guidance of experienced teaching staff
  • Assisting with the development and delivery of individualised learning programmes
  • Supervising pupils during playtime and lunch on a rota basis
  • Supporting extra-curricular and therapeutic activities, including swimming, horse riding, running, and trampolining
  • Contributing to the preparation and organisation of teaching materials
  • Providing personal care to pupils when required
  • Collecting and recording learning data and maintaining progress evidence
  • Working collaboratively within a classroom team, using behaviourally based instruction to support the pupils learning journey

You don't need experience in a teaching assistant role previously, but what you will need is:

  • To be proactive, caring, and enthusiastic about supporting children
  • To have excellent communication skills and a collaborative team spirit
  • Be comfortable with providing personal care and participating in physical activities with students
  • A keen interest in developing a career working with children and young adults

There is lots of scope for development and progression with this school with regular performance reviews and feedback sessions so you can hone your abilities. There's also consistent mentoring support from colleagues along with the opportunity to work towards full time teaching duties for those that want to develop their career in this direction. You will also gain great insight and learn techniques from trained therapists in the classroom and be able to use these in your daily practice. There is also plenty of opportunity to specialise yourself and get further training on areas of interest.
