Job Description:

We are seeking a Food Technology Teacher who is passionate about providing outstanding teaching and learning, and who thrives in a collaborative educational setting. To lead, manage, deliver, and develop the Food Technology curriculum across Key Stages 2, 3, and 4, ensuring the highest standards of pupil progress and attainment. This role involves being accountable for student progress, ensuring each student achieves their optimum level in Food Technology, and implementing effective strategies to raise standards of attainment and achievement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement a comprehensive food technology curriculum.
- Create a safe, nurturing classroom environment that supports learners with SEND.
- Deliver stimulating and enjoyable lessons, including accredited courses up to GCSE and BTEC.
- Develop and revise schemes of work and syllabuses to meet individual student needs.
- Monitor student progress and use data to set achievement targets.
- Provide quality feedback to ensure sustained progress.
- Set individual learning targets for all students.
- Maintain high standards of behaviour for learning.
- Communicate regularly with parents about progress, sanctions, and rewards.
- Promote enrichment and extracurricular activities.
- Manage the food technology budget in line with financial regulations.
- Ensure health and safety compliance, including risk assessments.
- Oversee the department inventory and conduct annual audits.
- Undertake other responsibilities as directed by management.
Essential Qualifications:
- Qualified teaching status.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Degree in food technology.
- SEND qualification (e.g., trauma-informed practitioner, autism awareness).
Experience:
- Teaching food technology to ages 7-19.
- Working with children with special educational needs.
- Organising and running extracurricular activities.
Skills:
- Highly skilled classroom practitioner with a variety of teaching strategies.
- Enthusiasm for teaching and learning food technology.
- Ability to support learners with SEND.
- ICT competence.
- Effective behaviour management.
- Ability to analyse progress data.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of SEN Code of Practice.
- Awareness of NC requirements at multiple key stages.
- Understanding of setting and monitoring challenging targets.
- Knowledge of SEND, including cognition and learning, communication and interaction, social, emotional and mental health, and sensory and physical needs.
