Are you an experienced Learning Support Assistant with a strong background in Braille?Veritas Education is currently recruiting on behalf of a mainstream secondary school in Eastbourne, seeking a dedicated and skilled Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to support a partially sighted Year 7 pupil on a 1:1 basis.

This is a full-time, long-term opportunity starting in September, with the potential to become a permanent position for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing tailored 1:1 support to a partially sighted student, ensuring full access to the curriculum.

  • Translating classwork and resources into Braille and supporting the pupil with reading and writing using Braille.

  • Collaborating with teaching staff, SENCO, and external specialists to support the pupil's academic and personal development.

  • Creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment that promotes confidence and independence.

Requirements:
  • Proven experience working with Braille - this is essential.(Candidates without Braille experience will not be considered for this role.)

  • Previous experience as a Learning Support Assistant or in a similar educational support role.

  • A compassionate, patient, and adaptable approach to supporting students with additional needs.

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
